I’ve looked at your site, and frankly I’m not impressed. And, from looking at it, I think you want people to be impressed. I just wanted to tell you that you don’t need to impress people. Ghandi taught not to live in the service of others, and that is what you are doing with this site. People being impressed and telling how impresses they are is great, but I don’t think this site is for them, but for you.
I am 15. I’ve been out of the states 15 times, to such places as Australia and Paris and Hong Kong and Germany and Russia. After seeing all these famous places, I don’t tell everybody I know about this. I have friends who don’t even know that I’ve lived their dreams. I don’t tell them because I am happy with myself and proud of myself and impressed with myself.
What I’m trying to tell you is that relating all your amazing experiences with everybody is a waste of time. If you lose all your good stories, people’s expectations will rise and you’ll waste everything trying to meet high expectations.
Just one question, Who’s Kyle Gibson? Do we need him? I’m fairly certain we don’t need him. I would like to go on the record here (and I sure do feel entitled to do so because we have shared one of those 20 year friendships listed above and I feel we know one another purely): WKP, I’ve never considered tales of your adventures to be a waste of my time. Likewise I’m sure. I have always found our discussions illuminating and I am better for them. So thanks for that! Good night, my friend.
I agree with Kyle in the sense that telling one’s stories is a way of giving away one’s magic. There are certain stories, Kyle, that I have kept secret and will never tell.
What Kyle doesn’t know is that I could hardly relate a tiny percentage of the cool things I have done, the places I’ve seen, the photos I’ve taken or the people I’ve met.
Life is huge. There is no shame in sharing the few things I put on this site.
If you think anything I’ve posted was intended to impress then I will have to introduce you to my friend Katina in Canada who can outdo any story. She’s lived nine lives and continues to be one of the most impressive people I’ve ever met. Kind, soft-spoken, and tough as nails.
